The Spacetime Sea dances with light, like still waters reflecting the nighttime sky, far from distant shore. Nebulous Archaea Clouds drift over star-fields, catching color from countless sunsets of countless suns. The galactic plane is plain as a stream cutting through the sky. The radiant core is morning’s light, shining across Our Galaxy the Wood. Here, at the galaxy’s rim, all of this is on display, though from long ago.
A shadow slips past, beneath the surface. Faster than light, as it is light’s absence. The dark shape begins to slow, enough to catch the light, which crests and falls across the gentle curve of the vessel’s hull, giving shape and form to a ship rising from the shadow’s flatness, beneath the surface of space. As the ship settles on the Spacetime’s surface, its shadow contracts into a sphere, and then a mote too small to see, a bubble of gravity and rippling light. Bouncing atop, the Bounty Fool drifts into space. Or remains in place. This far from the stars its position is so solitary that there is nothing to judge its speed against.
